Kale Kapı ("fortress gate") is a Phrygian rock grave from the second half of the 5th century BC, making it the oldest of this Greek type. I must go there again though, because I utterly overlooked the animals that seem to be depicted in the front (as I read now, at home, to my shame, in a guide I did not bring). As matter of fact, cropping from some pictures I add, 15 years later, not having returned, what seems to be a lion and maybe a wild boar.
Hi, I have just finished documenting the reliefs on the Kalekapi monument. You were there on a lovely day. Your landscape photos are particularly revealing--particularly 8905. -Peri
