These are some random pictures that I hope to give a proper place in this gallery (and the galleries within this one), I took them during a December 2007 visit, some in the main building, some in the "new" building. I will add captions later too.
From the Church of the Kalenderhane Mosque this is late 6th, early 7th century AD, the earliest representation of a hypapante. From several internet-sources I understand it to mean “meeting” and to be the term used for a meeting of the Joseph, Mary, Simeon, Anna and Jesus, also known as the Presentation of Jesus in the temple.
