Aydin 2007 4747.jpg

The Cihanoğlu (Cihanzade) Camii in the Köprülü Mahalessi. It reminded me a bit of the Lale Paşa Mosque in Istanbul since it also sits on a raised platform. It is much smaller though and does not have the shops under it the Lale has. But it is from the Turkish Baroque period also (1756).

And it has the most wonderful şadırvan (ablations fountain), of which I took very many pictures.

There had been a memorial service, these are the members of the congregation bringing the coffin to the car that will take it to the burial grounds. During service the coffin remains outside with a relative or friend holding guard.
