The Paşa Mosque, that has been restored in 1958. It dates from 1632 (I read that locally. A book I have gives 1594, built by Beylerbey Güllabi Ahmet Pasha, his grave is in the garden.
In the cultural heritage of Ottomans, the public fountains like that were not only used for abolition (getting wodoo prior to praying in the mosque) but also as the focal points of very young girls meeting boys and getting engaged thereafter, or transferring secret love letters among each other, etc. Secular and religious purposes comingled in our daily lives... I was living in a house right next to this fountain during 1957-1963 period (when I was 6-12 years old).
