I rarely see "modern" sculpture in Turkey, the latest trend seems to be to erect statues for (sometimes fictive) heroes from a bygone age in a material that seems to be bronze (and in at least some cases seems to be just bronze paint on a glass fibre base), or groups of "people" waqving flags and generally looking brave (there are some good ones too, I tried to show them).
This one is an exception, it still hints at a glorious past, but without all that bruhahah, and I liked it.
