Nemrut 2006 09 1426.jpg

view map

The east terrace, with the colossal statues of four gods and the deified king Antiochus I. They were eight or nine meters high. All the statues appear to have Greek-style facial features, but Persian clothing and hairstyling.
The heads on the foreground belong to (from right to left): a lion, an eagle, Heracles-Artagnes-Ares and king Antiochos. The man’s heads are up to 2½ m in height.
