Ankara 2006 09 0254.jpg

Across the road from the previous picture there is the facade of some of the larger shops. In my experience the whole area around this square is given over to good old-fashioned consumerism that many a Western city would be proud of, people dressing much better than I do, overall, wearing trendy sunglasses: paradise - for some.

Hallo Dick,
The avenue in this photo is Ataturk Boulvard. The building on the left hand side with yellow stripe that says PTT on it is a Post Office. It happens to be the major meeting venue for friends, lovers, coworkers etc. It will probably sound funny when I say that it used to be the tallest building in Ankara only back in 70's. It was used to be called 'Gokdelen' that means 'Skyscraper' :).
