Sinop_9506b

Inside the Pervane Medrese in a room at the right hand end of the courtyard, where Gazi Çelebi, his grandson, was buried who died in 1322. According to a sign outside the medrese he was a great naval commander (I found some references on the internet, but not having finished my Turkish course I could not quite understand). This is his monument.

You may notice some smudges. Some vandal (or maybe an art historian or director of cultural affairs should be blamed) decided that the best place to put plastic placards with translations of the verses in stonework would be on the monument itself. They were large, a nasty yellow and glued on with some industrial glue. Nice for future generati9ons who will heva to take them off. On the other side was another. I edited them out.
