There is a famous poem in memory of the WW I fights, which requests a traveller passing by to stop and think of the heroism (Dur, yolcu .. : Wait, traveller ..). The ferry I am on does not stop, but I often think on the subject of war when I see those lines at this spot. The poem , can be found - in Turkish at the Archive of Turkish Oral History. And what looks like an authoritative English translation is at the anzacsite, that seems to be Australian government run.
