After a visit to the agora I climbed towards Kadifekale (Velvet Castle). From there one gets great views over the city (and a nice fortification in the bargain). I was informed the green area in the foreground of this photo was known as Kültürpark and was home to a huge International Fair for the month of September every year.

I have pictures from there elsewhere in this site, and remember visiting the Kültürpark in the early '70's. I think the frequency of fairs has gone up, last time there was a marble fair that seems to be regularly held.
