This statue adorned the gate at Boğazkale (see here) that was named the Kings Gate. It was thought to represent a king, hence the name of the gate. Later research (the type of crown) indicate it must be a warrior god.
Limestone. Height: 3 m, width: 1,66 m. Dated from the 14th – 13th century BC.

The figure was meant to protect the gate and the people who passed through it. This relief is considered one of the finest examples of sculpture we have from the time of the Great Hittite Empire.
