In the museum they have a rule: no pictures of major Hittite artifacts. As a result of that rule, and the fact that a guard went with me through the whole exhibition, I could not take pictures of what are major finds there: two large vases with young men jumping over bulls, the way they are depicted in the Crete frescoes. Before the finding of these vases no one knew that this ancient sport (rather: ritual) was performed outside Crete. I did take some pictures of Phrygian pottery (that was allowed).
This is the reconstruction of a Hittite king's grave (as they can be seen at Alacahöyük, see http://www.pbase.com/update_image/36007119 ). For the diadem in the Ankara museum see http://www.pbase.com/image/33314115 .
