The Temple of Hadrian was erected in 118, but reconstructed in the 5th century. This may be “Acantho” (the goddess the plant was named after, of which the leaves provide the motive for Corinthian pillars), who was the mother of Helios. Since Hadrian was seen as the “new Helios” you can see the connection.
