Ganymede is taken to his job in the heavens, bringing Zeus his wine, or mede, or whatever they drank up there. Zeus is the eagle. Try and see the marvellous etch by Rembrandt on the same subject: Ganymede pissing in full flight for fear of flying. Inv. 10568. Antakya, fourth century AD.
