Amasya Hittit god

view map

In the Amasya museum they have this small statue of a Hittit god, some ten centimeters or so. The kind of hat he is wearing can be seen in many of the rock statues at, for instance, the Ankara archeological museum (see elsewhere on this site).

According to the Amasya Museum, this bronze figurine represents Teshub, the god of sky and storm. It is dated from the New Hittite Kingdom, around 1400 BC.
