Antakya Archaeological Museum Statue of Suppiluliuma sept 2019 5795.jpg

Unearthed in the internal portcullis area of the Tayinat Mound. An epigraph in Luwian implies King Suppiluliuma was depicted who quite likely reigned in Tayinat in the LATE HITTITE PERIOD Patina/Unqi kingdom in the early part of the 9th century BC. Placing the statue there had a meaning of the king, as God-assigned protector, guarding the border and the society behind it.
