Under the dome of the western bay there are four pendentives, each with one of four hymnographers whose hymns form part of the memorial service of the Orthodox Church. The furniture reflects 14th century furniture.

This is St. Theophanes (9th century), who served as a monk at Chora and was buried here. He is shown writing one of his works, words of which can be read on the scroll.
