Above the door a long and elaborate building inscription (82 x 342 cm) gives the name of its initiator: ‘Sultan oğlu Sultan Mehmed bin Bâyezid bin Murad bin Orhan’ = “Sultan’s son Sultan Mehmed, son of Bâyezid (who was) son of Murad, (who was) son of Orhan”, and (among praises and other detailed information) the date the building works finished: 822 H. (= 1419).
The entrance door is flanked by two mihrab-like niches; above them other inscriptions (82 x 129 cm) give more details about the mosque. The inscription on the left names the architect: “Hacı Ivaz bin Ahi Bâyezid” (Hacı Ivaz son of Ahi Bâyezid), who was also an army commander and a vizier.
