there seems to be a language of hands here. seated on the couch, on the right side is Cassandra, sister of the facing Polyxema. Notice, how big her hands are represented: the right palm is facing upwards towards the gods (in this case Apollo) to receive their messages while her left hand, palm downwards is to transmit these to the humans. But even when all she says become reality, nobody believes her. But Pyloxena knows that she is right and propably is also a little comforted, but not very much because she raises her left hand against the words spoken by Cassandra and yet she has already assumed with her other covered right hand that she will die, that it is her fatality, her destiny. Cassandra's big hands are very thought provoking for they are not an artistic, or anatomical mistake, they wanted to say something. As a Turk myself, I can't help com paring Cassandra's palms used in the same way by the whirling derwishes when they proclaim that whatever God gives , they keep nothing for themselves but give it to others. It seems so strange that rituals may keep going their way throughout millennia.. By the way, Mr. Osseman, thank you very much for your thought provoking pictures and keep well
