The ‘Fesçiler Kapısı’ (Gate of the Fez/felt hat makers) is one of the eleven main entrances to the Grand Bazaar (in addition, there are eleven secondary gates and tenths of small escape doors, generally known by the shopkeepers and workshops’ artisans only). The calligraphic inscription above the gate is Late-Ottoman, and dated 1214 H. (= 1799-1800 AD).
