This building has tentatively been identified as a hospital, because its structure is like that of later Seljuk hospitals. It has two floors, each with five vaulted rooms. It was constructed in Byzantine times, during the 6th century. It was known Emperor Justinian built a hospital for the healer-saint Cosmas in Pamphylia, but it is not known if this was in Side.
