Kids at the Monument for Fethiy Bey (1991-1914) who was Turkey’s first aviation martyr. He graduated from the naval academy and became an officier in the navy. He was trained in England. He joined the air forces as a captain. In 1914 he attempted to fly from Istanbul to Cairo for the first time and was killed when his plane crashed at Taberiye near Damascus.
