This is the mausoleum of Sultan Selim II (1566-1574) by Sinan in 1577. It was the first mausoleum on the Haghia Sophia grounds. It has a three bay entrance, an octagonal plan with double domes, on eight columns, supported by half-domes at the corners. Apart from the sultan’s tomb there are 41 others, amongst them his wife Nurbanu Sultan, his sons and daughters – Ismihan Sultan, wife of Sokullu Mehmed Paşa being one of them - and sons and daughters of Sultan Murad III.
Straight on and to the right the Aya Sofia.
