Nude fishermen in a mosaic called Thalassa and the Nude Fishermen, inv. 1017. It's from fifth century AD Harbiye. I cannot figure out the tale, if there is one. From the Word IQ internet site: Thalassa was a primordial sea goddess, daughter of Aether and Hemera. With Pontus, she was the mother of the nine Telchines. Sometimes, she was thought of as the mother of Aphrodite with Zeus. She was the personification of the Mediterranean Sea. For once the Enc. Britt. couldn't help me out.
