These are school children that were training for the execution of some ancient folk dances. Music was playing and they danced to the rutm, more or less. I took several shots.

The folklorist dances from Tavşanlı are called ‘Zeybek’ (as are a lot of dances from Nortwest-Anatolia). Each dance and dance tune has its own individual name, of course: Feracem, Karmı Yağdı, Mustafam, Çatal Çam, ...
These are generally slow dances, elegant and proud in style for the girls, heroic and self-assured for the men (or boys). Because of this slowness and extroverted style, it is really difficult and needs a lot of practise to keep synchronous; small children seldom do...
