This is rather curious in that the subject is Christian. Only recently did I read that in Kütahya, amongst undoubtedly other groups, there lived Armenian Christian families. I know this now because of a fascinating book by prof. Nurith Kenaan-Kedar "The Armenian Ceramics of Jerusalem" in which the lifes and products of three families is described: Ohannessian, Balian and Karakashian, members of which - natives of Kütahya - had been commissioned by the British Mandatory Administration to renovate tiles of the Dome of the Rock. This project was not followed through, but they stayed in Jerusalem and produced lots of works that look strikingly similar to what I know from Kütahya "Iznik", but this time often used in Armenian churches.
