Shortly before I was to stay two days in Istanbul in September 2007 a viewer posted a comment, that I had obviously not seen Fener and Balat, two fine regions in old Istanbul. Well, I had, and had pictures, but they were slides and needed scanning. I decided to take fresh pictures. And I was in luck. The regions contain several interesting churches, like that of the Greek Orthodox patriarch and the Bulgarian Orthodox church. Both of them were opened and I could take many pictures inside. Other pictures show several ancient monuments and street scenes. I will add some more comments later.
