Euromos was the most important city in ancient times, after Mylasa (now Milas). The name of the city was “Cyramos” or “Hyramos” in the 5th century BC. The Greek form “Euromos” meaning “Strong” is likely to be adapted as part of the policy of Hellenization by Mausolos.
Although the city is ruined the remains of the Temple of Zeus in Eurmos are among the half dozen best preserved monuments in Asia. It was built in Corinthian order and dates from the second century BC. It has six columns on an architrave and 9 columns on each side.
In a recess of the hill nearby the theatre is covered by an olive grove and can hardly be seen.
This gallery shows the temple from all sides, and some other remains. The pictures are in chronoligical order. By the time I left the sun was about to set, hence the colour change.
we had visited militus and didyma that day but euromos was the atmospheric treasure of the day, the classic temple and ruins in ancient groves.

Thank you for the wonderful display. My husband and I visited Euromos and Milas in May, and took some pictures. It was a memorable experience, indeed!
