Building F is situated on the Southwest Mound. Due to its stratigraphical position on the top of the mound, it is likely that this building stems from a younger phase of occupation at Göbekli Tepe. Nevertheless, it shares common attributes with the other (older) monumental buildings. These include its round-oval ground plan (in later EPPNB phases a rectangular ground plan is characteristic), and its central pillars. The smaller, stouter T-pillars are also an indication that this building was erected in the EPPNB phase of the site; in the PPNB, pillars are smaller and less imposing than in the earlier periods of the site. It dates from the 9th millenium BC.
