In this series I added a couple of pictures from the very early ages that I came across in an exhibition in the Istanbul Topkapi Museum, on early representations of women. Pictures were over a great many years, so recent visitors may find that the backdrop or position of some objects changed. I always try to work with available light, and thus have to compromise a lot on depth of field. I sharpened some of the minute objects somewhat, and have edited out unwanted artificial light wherever possible. I visit this museum regularly. The museum is housed in a nice old building with a surrounding park, not too far off the “Kale” region in Ankara. I found a good site with additional information. ANADOLU MEDENİYETLERİ MÜZESİ

Bu fotoğrafların neredeyse tümü, Anadolu Medeniyetleri Müzesi’nde çekildi. İstanbul Topkapı Müzesi’nde denk geldiğim, çok eski çağlardan kalma kadın tasfirleri üstüne bir sergiden birkaç resim ekledim. Bu resimler, farklı senelerde çekildi, bu nedenle müzeyi yeni ziyaret edenler bazı nesnelerin zemininin değiştiğini fark edebilirler. Her zaman mevcut ışıkla çalışmaya çabalıyorum, ve bu yüzden ince detayları gösteremiyorum. Bu açıdan çok yüzeysel olan bazı resimleri kullanmadım, ama bazılarından da vazgeçemedim, çünkü hiç olmamasından iyiydi. Bazı çok küçük nesneleri biraz netleştirdim ve yapay ışığı mümkün olduğunca resimlerden çıkarttım. Bu müzeyi yılda en az bir kere ziyaret ettiğimden, ileride bazı resimleri yenileyebilirim. Müze, onu çevreleyen bir parkın içinde, çok hoş eski bir binada bulunuyor; Ankara Kalesi’nin pek uzağında değil.
