This is the Alaeddin Camii (1223) on the same hill as the fortress. The Alâeddin mosque was commissioned by Ziynettin Beşare, lord of the sanjak of Niğde, in 1223. Though repeatedly restored it has essentially kept its original state. Inside it is of the usual multi-columned type, and with a window letting in more light in the centre. It has a fine entrance, for the rest the interior is rather dull. Though it helped that modern camera's allow one to "see" almost in the dark: I took pictures of the mihrab, only looking at those did I see what had been hidden to my eyes.
