Don't hate me..however I do like this one as well for January. A moody evocative image which can lead to deeper thoughts.
Guest 19-Aug-2005 16:50
don, this is lauryn. the out-doorsey, moonlight-walk-pictures move. sell i mean. in towns like this one. (saco) people look for things like this to hang in their bedroom. i wouldnt lean towards too many of them, because we want to keep a variety in mind, but in this case i think you should consider trying to frame this one.

lovely moody shot.i especially appreciate the expanse in this one.very nice!

Oops , sorry , I didn't read all the comment under your picture !

I'm glad that you saw these northern lights even if it was cold ;)

Dominic :)

Hi Donald :)

I photographed the sky exactly the same morning as you in Quebec city ( Canada ). Did you saw the northern lights that occured on this morning ? If not , I'm very surprised because you live not so far southern than me ( I'm maybe 400km north of your location in straight line ) When I saw your picture , here's the picture that came in y mind
http://www.pbase.com/dominiccantin/image/36365568 ( click on the image to see 58 other images drom that morning )

You captured the Moon , Venus and Jupiter excellently in a nice frame !

Clear skies !

Dominic :)

thank you Linda1 that is intereting for me to think about...the work...who is dm not ansel adams...but i rember that aa stood on the roof of his van to see the boulder fileds before the mts in a shot i and many of us know and like... and i always thaout that that was more than just a snap best, don it was a magical am indeed

utterly lovely - and what a story to get the shot. DM has this theory that great photos can't be snapshots, they have to be worked for - following those 'rules' this can certainly be called a great photo

Hard work and cold had paid!!! You got a beautiful image Don. you´re doing great job with your camera, keep going!!!! Yesterday and today I´ve been working in Jalapa ( The capitalñ of the State) tomorrow I´m going back home to Veracruz, but today we had a great sky, beautiful sunset. Lighting at sunset was fantastic, unfortunately I was at work and I couldn´t get my camera with me.

thank you Laine, the story would be funnier if it wernt true and if fact just the half of it as you know from your lown work! how many buttons does one push to take a thoughtfullish 10-20 shots these days and how deeply imbedded are all the menus choices... i wish nikon would take one of their camreas out for a spin themselves..... but happy neverthebuttonpushingless, don

Love the extreme low lighting and the bare haze settling on the curve of the landscape. Worth all the effort, Don.
Herb 10-Nov-2004 14:36
After all this work(or is it wording)you did get a great shot.
Guest 10-Nov-2004 14:35
Very pretty! You were certainly dedicated to getting the NL! Good for you -- it paid off!
Gayle P. Clement10-Nov-2004 13:33
Quite a story, Don and a wonderful image.
Lori Rolfe10-Nov-2004 12:12
It's always a good idea to wear socks when it's 18 degrees outside Don. :-) I can make out the colors in the sky and their reflection in the pond too. It must have been really exciting to see the Northern Lights! Great shot! Your description was amusing too. It is funny what we all go through sometimes to get an image. You worked hard to get this one.
