Many of these images could be regarded as contemporary. It all depends on the viewer's own perception.

Don, I think you spend too much time trying to pigeonhole the images. Sometimes its OK to put flowers in the chamber pot and bats in the bird cage. Lovingly, Toni

I would like to suggest also image DSCN0576 in your red-pink-orange gallery. That image is contemporary and suggestive of contemporary or modern art. When I think of contemporary art, I think of images that are are rather abstract, geometric, or with a bit less realism. I agree with blorber's comments regarding Albers.

the red door is quite contemporary reminiscent of german painter joseph albers.go to google images to get a quick view of his work. the light circles are contemporary because the're so cool and nontraditional. the sunrises and the pilings on snow have a surrealist quality that is certainly contemporary/modern. that's my 2 cents,don! betty

If you want to make really contemporary art, you should start forgetting about the established rules that have been there for decades. They will limit you in your creativity. Forget the rules (don't necessarily NOT apply them, but don't take them into account too much), and shoot what you think you have to shoot to reach your goal. That may mean that sometimes your subject is out of focus, not centered, etcetera. But by no means feel criticized or something, because your images are great.

thank you~ guest, Betty, Laine, and Alex and Kim B.!!!!! in this gallery i will soonish try to write the story of how this contemp gallery offering came to unfold a few days ago... it is such a wondrful stsory for me and i have some quick images i snapped from/of the gallery :):) maybe if i get to the library i will pad one of them today and move it here as well... this is a new jorney for me and thanks to everyone who is sharing your impressions... best from don in glorious maine

Which represents the present view of what is artistic? I'd say the image of the red door within the white wall. It looks like an image one would find in one of the glossy magazines that are published now. Cheers.
