GUESS!!! did one person fold these books or more... and WHY might they have been folded???? that is the question...

where is everybody????
ps i only found these books in a window... and stopped and went in... i did not fold them... and the purpose/projuct is not mine
who is behind this project and what is it???

When I was a small child, 3rd of six, we all used to fold the sears catalogs into Christmas trees. It kept 6 Children quiet for hours. Now that's peace. I'm glad it continues for the entire world. My Mom is brilliant!

Fold A Book for Peace is a nonpartisan, all inclusive project, a way for each of us to symbolize and begin to put into action our commitment to peace -- within ourselves, in our families and with our friends and in our communities, spreading peace outward in an ever-expanding circle. The Activity: Folding the pages of used or discarded books, transforming them, page by page, into sculptural images symbolic of the step by step, person to person creating of peace. Objective: One thousand books folded as an expression of our desire for peace and exhibited for public viewing and celebration. Goal: To begin, person by person, to create unity in place of divisiveness, to support the awareness that each of us, right where we are, can be a strong and effective creator of peace. The folded books of the Fold A Book for Peace project are not intended to be political statements per se. The project is intended to bring the attention of book folders and viewers alike to our place in and responsibility for peacemaking in our everyday lives. The physical act of folding the pages of a book results in an expansion of the book itself, an opening up into a new form, a transformation. Rather than being text centered the book is now image centered. The Fold A Book for Peace project uses this new image, in all the various forms it takes, as a symbol for humanity's life-affirming, peacemaking capabilities.

Ok...I'm going on a limp here.You have heard of performance art right? So maybe this is a performance book art thing?I mean there is some sense. Books tell as tory with words so maybe a book can be a story of it's own demonstrated!So I believe there was a group of individuals who folded these books.Why? Other than attraction of the viewer what other reason might it be? I mean this is the destination of art worldwide isn't it? To attract?Ok ypou have to give me more clues otherwise I can't do much!There is always the possibility you saw them,you liked them,you photographed them and then decided to play.Good game!
