Katelyn (June) and two of her fellow Vermont Rockets MacKenzie (May) & Meggan (April) were honored at the Vermont Sportswriters & Sportscasters Association's 2006-07 dinner for having been Vermont's "Athletes of the Month" in the past year. David Ball, who recently signed with the Chicago Bears, earned Male Athlete of the Year honors ... and Mac, who continues her heroic battle with cancer while continuing to achieve incredible things on the athletic fields -- took home Female Athlete of the Year. Way to go, Mac!

It certainly says alot about Coach Halbach's teaching to have three of his pitchers share this honor in a single year! It also says a lot about the skills and importance of Heather -- who caught Kate for the BFA Comets in the month she won the award, caught Meggan for St. Michael's College in the month she won the award, and caught Mac for the Vermont Rockets in the year she won the award! It's also worth noting that SMC has ties to four "Athlete-of-the-Month winners" -- giving them more honorees than any other single school and more than all the other colleges in Vermont, combined!
