VT's 2005 DI State Champs (BFA Comets) met VT's 2005 D2 State Champs in a 9-inning preseason scrimmage ... BFA came out on top, 8-0. The Comet defense was highlighted by a 4-6-3 double play: Mikaela to Lyndsi to Steph. Brittany was strong in her first varsity start; Kate struck out 5, walked none, and gave up 1 hit in her 3 innings on the mound; and Hillary closed with flair. Once again, strong defense, strong hitting, and strong pitching carried the Comets.

Photos below "Kate Fires" were taken by Marilyn -- Emmer and I missed the last five innings as the pain in the hand she broke in practice earlier in the afternoon got to be tooo much (her ice melted), so we went to the emergency department for x-rays and a cast. (She wouldn't leave til she saw Kate pitch an inning.) BFA's Freshman catcher is out for 4-6 weeks ... Dang!
