fight for the flowers

Blue Triangles: Graphium choredon, Papilionidae
in my home garden, Atherton Tablelands, Queensland, Australia
This fight persisted for several minutes. The Triangle with the damaged wings was determined to feed, while the other individual was determined to chase it away.
There seemed to be plenty of flowers for all, so I wonder if this is a fight between males over a prime mating territory. The sexes are similar, so I can’t be sure what these are.

Excellent capture. Butterfly in fly - a photographer dream. I still think they are doing hanky panky.

Two beautiful butterflies!! Could be a territorial fight. Butterflies are notoriously territorial! V

Wonderful catch of these two beauties, Don. It does appear to be a territorial issue; I've seen this behavior before. V

Such pretty butterflies, such bad behavior of the one on the right when there's more than enough flowers to go around. You'd think they'd have learned how to get along in their ragged old age.

What a great catch of these beautiful butterflies Don - looks like it's using its proboscis as a weapon !! V

Nice shot Don. Don't know about these, but some species are territorial. Between the plants, insects and birds around your house, you must walk around smiling most of time. V.
