Rich Babl was employed by the Dade County Aviation Department at Miami International Airport a year before I became employed with them in 1974. He was a one-man show running the airport's communications functions and writing speeches for Aviation Director Richard H. Judy. He always had a dry sense of humor and he cracked us up with funny sayings numerous times during his tenure at the airport. He left the airport for Washington State and when that didn't pan out he returned to the Miami area and I would run into him at GMAA luncheons and other functions. I last saw him in a Miami Lakes restaurant shortly after I retired in 2000 and he was his usual jovial self.
