In Memoriam - Doug Osborn

Doug Osborn grew up in Miami and was a 1967 Palmetto High graduate. He then served in the U. S. Coast Guard as an Electronics Technician in the late 60's/early 70's. He pulled a tour at an isolated LORAN station in the middle of the Pacific and at Base Miami Beach.

After his USCG service he obtained a Bachelor Degree in Education from FIU in 1976. In the late 70's he was hired by American Sign & Indicator Corp. in Spokane, Washington, to be the company's Flight Information Display System (FIDS) technician at Miami International Airport. He was responsible for keeping our large indoor and outdoor electronic signs and computers functioning 24/7/365.

When Miami International Airport went with another vendor for a new FIDS and signs in the late 80's Doug was hired by the Aviation Department, along with electrician Paul Keener, to work in the airport's newly created FIDS Shop.

Doug passed away at home on November 27, 1994. He was survived by his former wife Diane, their sons Josef and Richard, and his brother Richard.
