In Memoriam - EN1 Donald D. Tucker, USCG Retired

EN1 Donald Tucker was from Wildwood, Florida and I was stationed with him at a 3-man Coast Guard Recruiting Office in downtown Tampa from December 1967 until he retired in early 1970. He was a true Florida cracker and he had buddies all over Central Florida. I wish I could recall all the "Tuckerisms" that I heard for two years because he was full of them. I often went to lunch with Tucker if he didn't go with RDCS Ned W. Farber, our Officer-in-Charge, and he gave me plenty of down to earth somewhat intelligent advice over the years. We also went to the greyhound races at the dog track on the St. Petersburg side of the Gandy Causeway.

Thank you to Glenn Ruddell for sending me Donald D. Tucker's obituary so I could post it on his memoriam page. Glenn worked with Donald for seven years and said he was the hardest worker he has ever known and that he taught him a lot about work ethic. Please click on the image with his name to read his obituary.

I am sure that I have more photos of Donald D. Tucker in the boxes of photos not yet scanned and I will add them to this page in the future when I find them. I particularly remember taking several shots of his retirement ceremony when Commander Marshall K. Phillips, a long-time friend, came up from the Seventh CG District Office to read his retirement orders.
