Clair Sherrick was a native of Lima, Ohio who moved to South Florida in the early 1970's. He started with Airside Operations the same day I did, March 11, 1974, tranferring from the Aviation Department's Security Division where he had worked for a year.

Clair and I worked together as ramp agents, agent gate controllers and as senior agents. I was promoted to Supervisor of Gate Control in October 1986 and shortly thereafter Clair was given the job of Auxiliary Airport Manager at Tamiami Airport (TMB) where he oversaw that airport, Homestead General Aviation Airport (X51) and the Training & Transition Airport (TNT) out in the Everglades. He replaced Tony Silvaroli who left the Aviation Department and county employment. Clair retired as Auxiliary Airport Manager in the early 1990's after suffering a stroke.
