1970 - Dadeland Mall

Kendall Drive and the Palmetto Expressway, Miami

Viewed west to east, Jordan Marsh, which opened at Dadeland in 1965, is on the lower left at the west end of the mall. The famous "Suntower" is at the lower right in the parking lot.

Correction to my previous post - the gentleman who ran the Dadeland
Cozzoli's franchise was named Mr. Gambino, not Mr. Cozzoli - my bad!

I was sad to see on a recent visit to Dadeland that Cozzoli's Pizza is no longer there - it had to be the longest tenant there, longer than JC Penney which started at the mall in 1971. The Cozzoli's Dadeland business started in 1970 and hung on until about 2010 or 2011. I remember talking to the owner, Mr. Cozzoli, not long ago. His pizzeria was right next door to Crown Liquors, the site of the infamous "Cocaine Cowboys" shoot-out in the summer of '79.

Amazing and it was back when you could actually get across the county in half an hour or less.
