Hialeah, Florida

This image is a William A. Fishbaugh photograph donated to the Florida State Archives. I cropped and enhanced it for website display.

The studios were located in the northwest corner of W. 9th Street and W. 2nd Avenue according to the photo of the Hialeah development plan.

Aerial photos show that lot has been abandoned since at least 1961. Eventually the water plant expanded onto that lot and a great deal farther north.

I have been looking at this photo for years and it looks like the building that my 91yo Dad pointed out to me in the '60's in Hialeah near Red Road. He remembers three 1920's movie studios when he lived in Hialeah in the '30's, two were abandoned and one was converted to Hialeah Theatre. This one looks like the Lindsley Lumber or other wharehouse-type building that was in the industrial area back in the '60's. My Dad tried to Google Earth the building recently and could not find the old movie studio. It is a shame that it was not preserved.
