I drive by this corner every morning to go to work. I-95 is just a few blocks east, The KFC is still there. Also Jimmy's Place is still on the NE corner of 119th St & 441 (aka NW 7th Ave).

NW 119th St.and 441, yes a Kwik Chek and a KFC, northwest corner, there was a Goody's Shoes there around 69-70, I worked there. There was a Latta's Rest across 441,last a Jimmy's. I worked at the two Goody's in Hollywood too. West of there was Skipper's Chucks day care or pre-school. There were several in older neighborhoods, always in late 1940's or 50's type houses, one north of Carol City near the Broward border, and one in Driftwood Acresa block from Taft St. Tom from Hollywood

I grew up in this neighborhood in the 1950s-60s-70s and also attended Lakeview Elementary. This is the North side of NW 119th Street (back when it was still 4 lanes) a few blocks west of 7th Ave. As mentioned in an earlier comment, 119th and 7th is where the shopping center with the Kwik Chek and KFC was located. In this photo, just to the left of the Printing business, is (barely readadble) Jaume's Office Machines business. Their family and mine have been friends for decades.

Thank you guest, I'm going to take your word for it and I am removing the reference to the name of the center. I appreciate corrections like this because I'm striving to having a historically accurate site. Thanks again!

Actually this was not the Shop Rite SC, it was just east of these buildings on 119st & 7ave. It had Kwick Check, Grables, Wallens Drugs(later SuperX), dry cleaner, and a KFC that had the James Bond Movie Goldfinger in it for a few seconds.

I too lived in this area. How I remember Bennett's and the Bottle Cap Inn!! In 69, across the street from Tole they built a Publix & Eckerd Drugs. Just east of Tole was Animal Kingdom. Further west or maybe east of this shopping center, I believe was a pre-school playground named after Skipper Chuck.

I can't believe I found this picture that someone was so kind to post. I lived in the area for 21 years...I too went to Lakeview Elementary and visited Bennett's drugstore after school...that was a classic drugstore...I also remember Bill's my Daddy use to buy us what was then called pee wee drinks flavored like koolaid..also Cameron's it was a fish and chips place to eat...I use to hang around a girl whose mother use to work and she would eat there almost every evening. Also, the bottle cap in that was some great pizza not to mention the wonderful decor of bottle caps that decorated the walls and tables. The time has flown by, but oh so many fond memories. Thank you again. Anita Dee

Wow, I love this website...thank you! I have been out of Florida for 30 years now, but this was my area, lived on 12th avenue, went to Lakeview Elementary, stopped at Bennett's on my way home, and walked past the Bottle Cap Inn almost every day.

I grew up in this neighborhood. My father Felix a tile setter bought his tile for many
yrs. from Mr.Bombino,at ATLAS Tile, a great business man and friend. I also, remember the Bottle Cap Inn...yes, great pizza! Bennetts Drug Store was our only
drug store going back to 1953 and there was a 5&10 store and Bills (candy/groc)store on the corner of 14thave & 119st....where I cashed soda bottles in for candy.
Great memories....Thank you.

Wasn't the Bottle Cap Inn just down the street ??. I knew the owners very well, the Viscounts. What a place, bottle caps covered the walls & the food was outstanding.

Bennet's Drug Store was a block or so west of here for many years.
