My doctors office is the white building under the sign. That was Dr Burleys office. I remember the stop at Burger King after most visits. You would drown in the rain
waiting to order. I miss the original Burger King. They had the crinkle cut fries which
would win any taste test against what they serve now. It is a shame progress is not always a step forward.

Would love to have the recipe for a lumburger. A sloppy joe type sandwich. I never got tired of them.

Dave Brier and I had regular afternoon meals after school at South Miami High, I can't believe the amount of food we used to put away.

This BK is on the corner of SW 70th Ct and Bird Rd. and they have rebuilt it over the years and is still at the same site. It's actually called store #29 by BK. Alot of the Trail Builders people helped support that place.

That's right, they built another one on the property then tore the original Burger King down. That also happened on Bird Road and SW 97th Avenue, across from Olympia Heights Elementary School. In the early '70s they built a new Burger King -- one that still stands -- behind the existing Burger King on the same lot, then flattened the previous one.

I remember riding my bike here and getting a Whopper, Lg. chocolate shake and fries for $1.82. They built a new Burger King right in front of this one, then tore down this one. I ate many lunches here while going to South Miami High.

i have to disagree. i think the sign is fine. this looks like it sat at what is currently a mazda dealer. this area of bird had junkyards and such back then. its possible someone bought the block and requsted the street be closed off and purchased it off the county. i heard from someone that used to frequent the junkyards that they got bought up sometime i the early 70's and cleared out.

I see the sign, but I think this is where the current Burger King is located, 7070 SW 40th Street (Bird Road), not 71 Ave. That would make this 70th Ct. This store also appears in the last picture, so I'm pretty sure the sign is wrong.
