Coast Guard Miami station is now located where the bridge meets the sandy spit. Government channel is the body of water in the foreground. In the top portion you can see the 36 street causeway.

That is known as Star Island today...The Flager monument island is to the left behind star island

It was called monument island.

does anyone have any information about the small island (left side of picture, surrounded by white sand, just north of Star Island). I believe it still exists today.
