Being a native-born Miamian, I love the pictures of old Miami and surrounding area. Thank you for preserving them for us who are nostalgic about this area. I love its history. Martha Scott Ledbetter

I have just discovered your web site and am looking forward to seeing all the pictures.
My mother was born in Miami in July, 1898 and told me many stories about the town as I was growing up. Her father was a civil engineer and laid out many of the early streets. Julia Tuttle hired him to come down from Georgia and do surveying for her.
I was born there in April, 1935, grew up there and lived there until I was in my forties. We lived in the Allapattah area the first eleven years of my life, then moved to the Silver Bluff area for four years, then to Key Biscayne when it was first opened as a community. I have many fond memories of Dade County, but it grieves me to see what has happened to it now.
