By the way, a sad note...
Our dear friend Don Boyd passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 27th after battling pancreatic cancer. Those of us who got to know Don will miss him deeply.
In speaking with his wife (Karen) this evening, she was unsure who would be administering this site in the future, but was open to suggestions.
If you have the time, inclination and desire to keep this site up-to-date as best as possible, please contact Karen through oldmiamimemories(at) gmail (dot) com - perhaps you can be the helping hand she will need.
The site is paid up for a number of years, but right now no one will be monitoring it or adding any photo archives.

Whoops...accidently loaded that first line too soon...
After Tony left the Platters, the years brought many personnel changes and it seemed that every original member [or later member] had their own "Platters" group at some point in time.
All five of the originals who had the big hits from 1955-1961 (such as "The Great Pretender", "Twilight Time", "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes", "Harbor Lights", "Remember When", "I'm Sorry") are now deceased.
Any act calling themselves is just a knockoff of the originals... even if the act contains ONE member who was a replacement at oen time or another...

Tony Williams was the original lead singer for the Platters during their Mercury Heyday. The other original members were Herb Reed, Paul Roby, David Lynch and Zola Taylor.
