Dan was from Cleveland, Ohio, and a good buddy while we were stationed together. We were hauling ass somewhere on the station's 19-foot TICWAN (Trailerable Intra Coastal Waterway Aids to Navigation) boat, which was the fastest boat in the station's fleet but not suitable for search and rescue operations. Dan turned around to make sure that our station mascot Buster and I had not fallen out yet. Dan was famous at the station for being an expert coxswain on this boat, especially in the middle of the night when giving a sightseeing tour to an attractive young civilian lady. We admired his guts to pull off something like that but wanted no part of his NJP that was awarded. It involved honey buckets and the station's septic tank and unfortunately our CO wouldn't let me take a photo of it.
