Summer 1964 - the Hattaway home at 7235 W. 15th Avenue, Hialeah

Thank you to N. Hattaway for contributing this great old image of his family home. He states "Our house at 7235 W. 15th Ave in Hialeah. This photo was taken in the summer of 1964, we had moved in December of 1963. This was the last of the three houses my parents owned in Hialeah, I lived there while I attended Hialeah High and lived there until I left for USF in 1968. My family lived in this house until 1978. The house is located just a few blocks from Hialeah-Miami Lakes High School, which was built during my brother's Senior year in high school, so we both went to Hialeah High. It was four bedrooms, two baths with a "Florida room", but no carport of garage. This house was ahead of its time, it had central heat and air conditioning! I remember taking this photo because we had managed to get a lawn in and doing well in just a few months. The lawn consisted of a few plugs of grass and sand when we moved in, that was the definition of a lawn with a new house back then. It is sort of typical of the houses built in t he early 1960's in Hialeah."

Love that Rambler in front of the house. My granddad had one just like it...a "Rambler Classic". It came with removable window screens!
